1) You mentioned that you will graduate in December 2022 with a Master of Arts in Russian and Eastern European Area Studies and Juris Doctor (Law Degree). How do you combine these two studies? Is it challenging to study these two different areas simultaneously? a) I am training to be an international lawyer, so it is actually pretty easy to study these areas together! I have been able to write about and study the Balkans in my international law classes. For example, in my International Law class on the law of the seas, (maritime law) I studied about and wrote my final paper on the maritime dispute between Croatia and Slovenia in the Bay of Piran in the Adriatic. I also compared ethnic/religious conflicts in Ukraine and Bosnia, for my Ukrainian History class. In my other international law class, violence against civilians in warfare, I wrote about the international response, or lack thereof, to the war crimes being committed in Bosnia during the war in the 1990s, including Srebrenica. 1. Pisanje! Spomenuo si u prethodnom intervjuu da je pisanje tvoja velika ljubav. Možeš li nam sad ovdje ispričati kada si stvarno počeo pisati, i kada si osjetio tu magiju emocija kada pišeš i shvatio da, zaista, uživaš u tome? Prvi put kada sam pročitao ovo pitanje, mislio sam da neću znati odgovoriti. Međutim, što sam više razmišljao o pitanju, sve više sam se prisjećao tog perioda. Sve je počelo prije tri godine. 1. Dear Kath, you mentioned in a previous interview that you would like to be a change-maker :) You explained that you would like to help other people. Can you explain it a little bit deeper here? What do you exactly mean by helping them to discover themselves? Is it a sort of motivational work area or a life coach? Sure! There are two approaches I would like to apply when encouraging people to start their self-discovering path. Firstly, becoming a Motivational Speaker which, I am currently working on through the education program of the Toastmasters International Public Speaking Club. This education program is helping me to build skills as a mindful listener, powerful and effective communicator by working on projects focus on learning strategies for building connections with the people around me and connecting with audiences while giving a motivational talk, as well as, understanding motivation to deliver thought-provoking, inspirational and call to action speeches. 1. Dear Joana, I know that you participated in a lot of youth exchanges. Can you tell us briefly about that? Would you share with us, how does that affect you as a young person who still creates her life? What are the most significant lessons from those experiences that you learned? I could write so much about this…  Literally. I am doing my Master’s thesis on the role of international projects in breaking the cycle of inequalities for youth. So I guess it starts there, on what I like to call "the magic of mobility". Being away from your reality, even if for a week, surrounded by new and different people who make you aware of your prejudice and stereotypes has a huge potential to transform you. On one hand, in simple actions like choosing the condiments for their food, people challenge your beliefs and show you there is so much more to the world than what you know. 1. Sven, in a previous interview you mentioned that you have already lived in 3 states. Can you tell us a little more about that? In which countries and what did you do there? No problem! Except for my home country Croatia, I lived through my life in Austria and Russia. After I grew up in a village in Croatian Zagorje and in Zagreb through high school and college, my life abroad began three years ago when I went to an exchange semester in Leoben, where I lived for the first time on my own. That experience taught me above all how to live independently and organize your life by yourself. I liked that they have an international study program which is taught in English so that was my language for lectures. For everyday situations, I used German as I speak it fluently. Meanwhile, I saw an advertisement for the Joint International Master Program in Petroleum Engineering where I’m studying right now. 1. Sven, u prethodnom intervjuu si spomenuo da si već živio u 3 države. Možeš li nam ispričati malo više o tome? U kojim državama i šta si tamo radio? Nikakav problem! Osim svoje rodne Hrvatske, živio sam kroz svoj život u Austriji i Rusiji. Nakon odrastanja u jednom zagorskom selu pa onda u Zagrebu kroz srednju školu i faks, moj život u inozemstvu je krenuo prije tri godine kada sam otišao na razmjenu u Leoben, gdje sam prvi put samostalno živio. To iskustvo me naučilo prije svega samostalnom životu i organizaciji. Svidjelo mi se što imaju međunarodni studijski program koji se održava na engleskom jeziku te mi je to bio jezik za predavanja, a inače tečno pričam njemački pa sam se time koristio u svakodnevnim situacijama.
